Basho Events in April

This month, it’s all about developer conferences – both local and international. If you’re in the area, come and say hi. We always love to chat Riak and can answer any questions you may have. Here is a look at where we’ll be this month.

PyCon 2014: On the Wednesday (April 9th) of PyCon 2014, Basho Technical Evangelist, Tom Santero, will host a free workshop on “Building Applications on Riak,” starting at 1:30pm. PyCon takes place April 9-17 in Montreal, Canada.

ChefConf 2014: Basho will be attending ChefConf and our technical evangelists will be available to answer any Riak questions you may have. ChefConf 2014 takes place April 15-17 in San Francisco, CA.

CRAFT Conference: Basho is a proud sponsor of CRAFT Conference, which takes place April 23-25 in Budapest, Hungary. We will have a booth setup so stop by to grab some great swag and chat Riak.

NoSQL Matters: At NoSQL Matters: Cologne, Basho Technical Evangelist, Joel Jacobson, will present on “CRDTs in Riak,” one of the new features available with Riak 2.0. His talk will take place at 12:30pm on April 30th. NoSQL Matters: Cologne takes place April 29-30 in Cologne, Germany.

Basho Events in July

This month, the Basho team will be attending and speaking at a wide variety of conferences, as well as hosting many meetups all over the world. If you’re going to be at any of these events, we’d love to meet you! Feel free to contact us if you’d like to meet or if you have any questions about Riak.

Below are some highlights of where we’ll be:

Lambda Jam: On July 8-10 in Chicago, IL, Basho will be speaking at Lambda Jam. John Daily will be speaking on “Distributed Programming with Riak Core and Pipe,” Steve Vinoski will be speaking on “Addressing Network Congestion in Riak Clusters,” and Sean Cribbs and Chris Meiklejohn will be speaking on “Functional Web Applications with Webmachine.”

O’Reilly OSCON: Eric Redmond will be speaking on “Distributed Patterns in Action” at O’Reilly OSCON in Portland, OR (July 22-26).

DevCon5: Sarah Drasner will be speaking about using “CSS Animation to Tell a Story” at DevCon5 in New York City (July 24-25).

Meetups: Basho is hosting meetups in Dublin on July 8th, Tokyo on July 10th, Seattle on July 11th, Baltimore on July 18th, and Portland on July 29th.

Basho Events in June

This summer, Basho will be traveling all over the world to sponsor and speak at various events. Keep an eye on our Events Page to see where we’ll be next. If you’re going to be at any of these events, we’d love to meet with you. Simply contact us and we can schedule a time for you to meet with a Basho team member.

Below are some highlights of where we will be:

Erlang User Conference: This conference brings together companies and developers using Erlang from all over the world. Join us in Stockholm, Sweden from June 10-14 to hear Bryan Fink, Basho’s Principal Software Engineer, speak on Riak Pipe and load distribution.

QCON: Basho will be at QCon in New York, NY from June 12-14, where we will be discussing how to select the right database technology and some existing and emerging data storage challenges. Basho’s Technical Evangelist, Tom Santero, will also be presenting “Riak, Latency, and Distributed Systems” on the first day.

GigaOm Structure SF: Basho is a proud sponsor of GigaOm Structure SF. This event takes place June 19-20 in San Francisco, CA. Basho’s Chief Architect, Andy Gross, will discuss the resurgence in interest in both theoretical and applied distributed systems and provide practical advice for dealing with systems in a newly distributed world.

Upcoming Basho Events – April

April 23, 2013

During the rest of April, Basho will be speaking and sponsoring events around the United States and internationally. If you want to meet up with a Basho team member at one of these events, contact us to set up a time, or send us a note on Twitter. Below are some of the highlights:

NY Tech Day: Basho will be exhibiting at NY Tech Day (April 25) in New York, a massive science fair where entrepreneurs can exhibit their startups to thousands of consumers, investors, first adopters, job seekers, major companies, press and media.

NoSQL Matters: Basho is sponsoring NoSQL Matters (April 26-27) in Cologne, Germany. Additionally, Basho engineers, Sean Cribbs and Eric Redmond, will be speaking about Riak Technologies.

RailsConf: Basho will be attending RailsConf (April 29-May 2) in Portland. It is the largest gathering of Rails developers (and most of the time, Rubyists) in the world, drawing world-class developers and companies together to see the state of the art in Rails and web development.

Meetups: This month, we are hosting meetups in Atlanta at Atlanta Tech Village on April 23rd and in Portland on the 29th at NedSpace.

Sponsored Events: Basho will be sponsoring Railsberry in Krakow, Poland (April 23-24), GOTO Chicago in Chicago (April 23-24), and ChefConf in San Francisco (April 24-26).
